The game of youth soccer

I had the opportunity to attend my neighbor's daughter's soccer game. Last week when they went, they discovered she had some raw talent.

I remembered back in the day when I played football. The practices, the games, the friends gained. But the one thing I will always remember is the support from my mom and dad. Always there in the stands, always screaming the loudest and always proudest no matter if we won or lost.

So flash forward a few years later. All of the kids who were playing now have kids of their own and they are yelling and screaming just as loudly as I remembered from days past.

And I can't help but wonder. I know they want their kids to excel in what ever they do (I would too), but listening to all the parents there, I can't help but wonder if the volume of the yelling is proportionate to the "I wish I was their age playing again" feeling that we all inherently have on some level or another.

By the time the game ended, I could see it in all of their eyes, they same thing I had in my eyes.

"No matter if we win or lose, thanks for being there Mom and Dad !!"
