Model Portfolios {part 1}

When we first sat down for our initial consultation we had to agree on what we wanted to accomplish.  Long silence.  It became evident to me that she had no experience and therefore no idea of what she wanted.  Granted, I had the experience and could get some decent photos of her, but average is not me.  I wanted something we could both relate to and something reminiscent that would force the viewer to think “where have I seen that/her before.”

I had a thought.  And then the Cheshire Cat grin grew.

She looked at me, puzzled she said, “what?!?!?!?”

“Guess”, I said.

“Umm, Ahhh …. OK, I’m lost”, she said throwing up her hands.

“No ‘Guess’ “, I said again.  This time pointing to the magazine she brought.

“I LOVE THOSE ADS!!!!”, she squealed.

At that point I knew we had an instant connection, a concept we both believed in, and most importantly – we were of the same mind during the shoot.  Everything worked for the both of us.  Here are some of my favorite shots.  Mind you, these never made it into her portfolio because they weren’t what her agency was looking for AND these were taken between poses which to me had more of the look and feel we were after.
